The Business of Being Born - Fresh Dining - Ricki Lake

I had the opportunity tonight to see a screening of The Business of Being Born. If you have the chance to see, I recommend it. :) It was nicely done, though I would have liked to see them expound on the fact that 60%* of hospital revenue is generated by L&D/Obstetrics. ;) My favorite quote was Marsden Wagner, MD: "If you really want a humanized birth, the thing to do is to get the hell out of the hospital." There's lots of beautiful birth footage though modest persons might be offended by nudity... while I hardly noticed and almost forgot to mention it, I know my poor hubby would have been squeamish enough with the vaginal births and downright green around the gills for the Cesarean footage. If you have seen it, let me know what you thought.

Thanks to NARM and Ida Darraugh, CPM for the legislative workshop. We hope 2008 will be the year that Certified Professional Midwives will be licensed by the state of Indiana. :) We'd love to join the 22 states who license midwives!!!
